Howard Elected Secretary of ANC 1E, Focused on Keeping Residents Informed

Park View Commissioner Brad Howard takes on expanded role to ensure neighbors have clear, timely access to information about decisions affecting their community

WASHINGTON — Commissioner Brad Howard (1E01) has been elected Secretary of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1E, stepping into a leadership role focused on making sure residents have clear, consistent, and timely information about the decisions that impact their neighborhood. As Secretary, Howard will be responsible for ensuring that meeting outcomes, Commission actions, and key updates are communicated clearly and made readily available to the public.

Howard, who represents Single Member District 1E01 (Park View), said his priority in the role is simple: make it easier for residents to know what their Commission is doing, why it matters, and how to stay engaged.

“Residents shouldn’t have to chase down information about decisions that affect their daily lives,” said Howard. “My focus as Secretary is making sure people know what’s happening, when it’s happening, and how they can be part of it.”

Howard brings extensive experience in public communications and government to the role, with a track record of helping communities stay informed and engaged in the decisions that shape their neighborhoods. He said too many residents feel disconnected from local decision-making simply because information is hard to find or understand and that his goal is to ensure every resident knows where to go for reliable information and feels connected to the work of ANC 1E.

“This role is about opening the doors wider,” said Howard. “When people have clear, accessible information, they can show up, speak out, and hold their government accountable. That starts with making sure we’re communicating better and more consistently. People deserve to feel informed, not left in the dark.”
