PROGRESS  for  PARK VIEW

Campaign Issues & Priorities

THE PLATFORM

#1. RESPONSIVENESS

PROTECT PEOPLE WHERE THEY LIVE

  • Safer Routes to School and Transit: I will work with residents to identify priority danger spots and press for a focused package of better crossings, clear sightlines, repaired sidewalks, lighting, and traffic calming near schools, bus stops, and the recreation center.

  • Faster Safety Improvements: I will push for temporary safety measures while permanent projects are designed, clear installation schedules, and enforcement focused on dangerous driving and blocked crossings.

  • Sustained Neighborhood Safety: I will advocate for a coordinated Park View safety plan with consistent foot patrols, targeted violence prevention, youth programming, and named agency responsibilities. Residents deserve a sustained response with public measures of progress.

#2. RELIABILITY

GET THE BASICS RIGHT

  • A Closed Request Should Mean a Solved Problem: I will push for 311 closure notices that explain what was done, include photographs where appropriate, and give residents a simple way to challenge an unresolved request without starting over.

  • End the Agency Runaround: For recurring problems involving multiple agencies, I will press for one designated lead, a shared action plan, and clear deadlines so residents are not left coordinating the city’s response themselves.

  • Dependable Trash Collection: I will advocate for clear recovery schedules after missed pickups and service disruptions, timely replacement of damaged city-issued bins, and advance plans to keep collection working during severe weather.

#3. RATS

TAKE BACK OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

  • Declare a War on Rats: I am urging the new incoming mayor to declare a “war on rats” and to deploy all necessary resources and attention to this growing problem.

  • Treat the Whole Problem: I will seek coordinated treatment of Park View’s worst-hit blocks, bringing rat abatement, alley cleaning, trash enforcement, and follow-up inspections together. Success must mean less recurring rat activity.

  • Cut Off the Food Supply: I will push for rat-resistant trash containers, collection schedules that prevent overflowing bins, and stronger enforcement against landlords and businesses that repeatedly leave garbage exposed.

  • Prevent Infestations from Returning: I will advocate for effective rodent-control plans at construction sites and neglected properties, with follow-up inspections and consequences when owners fail to correct conditions that sustain infestations.

“It’s past time we declare a war on rats and give this problem the serious attention it deserves.”
