First elected in 2024, Commissioner Brad Howard is running to serve another term representing Park View on the District of Columbia’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
Brad brings two decades of experience from City Hall to the halls of Congress and expertise in campaigns, communications, and constituent advocacy. He knows how to navigate government, command attention, and get things done.
In his first term, Brad has built a reputation of persistence — ensuring residents’ voices are hard and requests are resolved.
He delivered a major win for a condo association, forcing a District agency to produce files that are now saving homeowners hundreds of thousands of dollars.
He took on Pepco when power outages plagued Park View for months and refused to let them sweep it under the rug.
He’s helping to lead an effort to tackle DC”s rat population head on and to beautify Park View’s most iconic spots.
And he’s become one of the District’s most vocal advocates for transparency and accountability, opposing’s DC Council’s abuse of emergency powers, pushing for more rigorous MPD involvement in surging summer crime, and leading a Commission-wide resident survey to draw attention to the District’s abysmal response to the snowcrete weather event earlier this year.
These are not campaign promises. They are Brad’s record. And he’s just getting started.

He’s a Park View homeowner, dedicated public servant, Capitol Hill staffer, and a proud American University graduate who has called D.C. home for nearly two decades.
Brad brings a neighbor’s perspective to public service—grounded in relationships, experience in public communications and public policy, and driven by a deep love for this city.
Outside of his work, Brad’s a proud cat dad, a self-declared weather nerd, a history buff, and a weekend cyclist. He’s also a fun uncle, a Nationals fan, and a member of Foundry United Methodist Church here in Washington.
Brad earned his Master of Arts in Public Communications from American University — putting himself through school with the help of public loans, hard work, sweat, and public service.
He covered tuition with a mix of student loans, paid internships, and long shifts bartending and waiting tables at restaurants right here in the city.
He later spent more than a decade in public service—serving in the Obama Administration, on Capitol Hill, and at City Hall in New Orleans—which ultimately qualified him for student loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, a policy he proudly champions today.
Brad is a seasoned Democratic strategist who has led campaigns at the congressional, gubernatorial, and senatorial levels in states across the country.
During the 2024 election, he served as television political commentator for national news outlets such as NewsNation, Fox News, CNN, and Bloomberg TV. He is currently serving as chief of staff to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He also currently serves as an officer in the Ward One Democrats here and is a Vice President in the Capital Stonewall Democrats.
In November 2024, Brad was elected by his neighbors to his first two-year term on DC’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1E, representing ANC 1E01. His colleagues elected him ANC 1E Secretary, where he works hard every day to keep residents informed and to deliver real progress for the people of Park View.
